HAPPY NEW YEAR!

New Year’s is a time to reflect on the past and set goals for the future.

And that is exactly what this blog is about. As you know my campaign is justice 4 mom and that is because my mom was domestically and violently at that, abused by my father, Mike Rinder, Leah Remini’s co-host, for her A&E program, funded by Disney.

As we look back on the last year, I can say that I’m personally inspired by the more and more women who are standing up and speaking out about abuse they have experienced at the hands of men.

Speaking out is vital. Supporting campaigns against domestic abuse is crucial. Working together to stop support of men who abuse women is a necessity. Support to men who abuse women must, must, must end.

My father ruthlessly and aggressively assaulted my mother in front of my eyes. I was scared for my mom’s life. I saw in his eyes that he wanted to kill her. I mean, literally, he had my mom’s hands in a vice grip, mauling her flesh. She was yelling “Stop it. You’re hurting me.” And Mike Rinder was holding tight and digging further and further into her arms. He’s a big guy. She is 100 lbs.

My father, Mike Rinder, pinned my mom so she couldn’t move and then pulled her arms down and she started hearing her bones cracking and was screaming for him to “Stop!” I was in shock. I couldn’t believe my father was doing this to my mother. It was a moment of horror. And then it was over. Blood was everywhere. My mom was in agony.

My father, Mike Rinder, only exuded HATE. Not an apology, not an ounce of compassion, pure hate. I was disgusted.

My father was like ice, uncaring and unremorseful. He had this wild crazed look in his eyes. Totally frightening. I remember looking at him and feeling scared, because such vicious abuse, in front of your daughter and to your wife of over 30 years is nothing but evil.

That was a wakeup call for me. And now I have had an even bigger wakeup call because this vicious man, Mike Rinder, has been allowed to get away with it. He has been put on TV as if he is a normal citizen. He has gotten his co-host to victim shame my mom.

So whereas I had a wakeup call when it happened, I am now forevermore dedicated to bringing Justice 4 my mom. Not only did he cause my mother pain that she experiences every day, now he is victim shaming her too.

My mom is not healed, years later. It took months just to get her to the point of functioning. I tied her shoes for her, made her bed for her, cut her food for her, she even had shirts made that had slits down the side because she couldn’t move her arm. And after all that, she is permanently damaged. My mom cannot raise her arm. She has a huge problem on circulation in her arm and every single day she has to do ice and hot and ice to force circulation. Yet after doing that to my mom, Mike Rinder still gets paid to go on TV.

And my view is that if A&E’s Paul Buccieri agrees to pay Mike Rinder then he agrees with men beating women. A&E is supporting an abuser.

So in this New Year, my wish is for a change. We need to take action and we need to stop domestic violence and stop support for men that abuse women.

I am revitalized to make a change in full this year and I will do all I can and invite others to help in this crusade for a year free of domestic abuse and free of support for men who abuse women.

Let us make this year where we all become a better human being, a better person and a better citizen. New Year’s is a time to better ourselves for a better world and end abuse and hate. Have a grand New Year!
